The work explores the unconscious mind by imagining a world where fantasy prevails and reality is subverted. The fragility of society and the hidden self is considered by juxtaposing lavish embroidery with flies; while the boundary between the inner and outer body is blurred, as fluids seep and coarse hairs protrude amongst the order and sophistication.

The pieces play with the cosy associations of textiles, a second body of work hybridises childrens’ toys with internal organs, to explore the dark recesses that exist beneath the surface of society where the seemingly naive can become tainted and hide a sinister intent.
