My work draws on the media and popular culture for its subject matter and considers the place of the art world in a commentary on modern life. In recent work I have been exploring the image of the female celebrity as metaphor for world events, drawing heavily on the internet as a news source. A continuing fascination with the look and implications of text is the origin for my current small word paintings along with works based on opportunistic mobile phone ‘snapshots’.
